A mid-February mini-update and correction from the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission |
Dear Fellow Minnesotans:
We wanted to make a couple of corrections to our recent e-newsletter and in the process remind you upcoming events that also needed a correction of sorts. So here goes:
WANTED: MINNESOTANS WHO WANT TO SING ON THE CAPITOL STEPS! On May 18th not May 17th.
If you like to sing, please join us to become the one-time-only Minnesota Statehood Sesquicentennial Chorus, to sing several Minnesota favorites, including Minnesota Hail to Thee, at the Minnesota State Capitol, May 18, at the official statehood commemoration ceremony (which starts at 18:58 hours and concludes at 8:15 p.m.), under the direction of conductor Philip Brunelle.
We are trying to gather people of all ages who like to sing from every county in Minnesota. If you would like to join the chorus, send your name, address, email, phone and what part you typically sing (soprano, alto, baritone, bass) to laura@mn150years.org, or write to Laura Baratto at the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission, 240 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN, 55102, with that information.
The Chorus will gather about two hours before the ceremony to practice. Stay tuned for further information. We'd love to have you be a part of this historic moment. We are looking for singers of all ages so bring the whole family!
FEBRUARY 29TH SESQUICENTENNIAL FUNDRAISER
We want to thank everyone who has responded to the invitation for the Sesquicentennial Fundraiser on Feb 29th in St. Paul Leap in for the Love of Minnesota. If you have tried to register or donate for the Leap Year Day event and had problems with our online RSVP system, please try again. We switched to a new registration tool and it should work just fine now. We apologize if you did have trouble. You can register at http://www.mn150years.org/fundraiser1.html by clicking on the RSVP link.
